HISTORICAL BACKGRAUND OF ANNUR EXTRA LESSON

   ANNUR EXTRA LESSON started in the year 1997 with less than twenty students and a teacher, who was only teaching biology and geography. The lesson was not formal in the sense that everybody can come and sit in the class without any restriction, the teacher also use to provide basic teaching materials such as chalk , maps, past question paper, then consequently  as a result of increase in the number of students attending the lesson, tie need also arise to formalise it and make it well organised.

   It was in the year 2000 that the lesson was named as AN-NUR (LIGHT), and more student. That can come to its classes until and when registered formally. It is equally important to state that AN-NUR EXTRA LESSON stated only with senior secondary school section, but now it has been expended to junior and primary section. With about two hundred students.

About 450 people benefited from our service, in which 250 are in higher institution pursuing different courses. About 50 have graduated from the University. Also about 30 are currently working in various organizations and the rest are presently receiving the training. This is for senior section of the programme.     While for primary section,  the achievements are tremendous, because it is the basic  and it provides students with solid background to face post-primary and post- secondary challenges. As at now we have more than  200 pupils that are currently benefiting our extra-moral lesson classes. To enhance their level of self-confidence, human dignity and human right (child’s rights), with a strong base for a better tomorrow, through quality education.          1.      To increase the level of awareness about the importance of education.2.      To emphasise quality education and despline.      3.      To reduce the rate of failure in the secondary final year examinations.4.      To bridge the gap in the syllabus that is not usually covered in public secondary schools.5.      TO offer guidance and counseling services especially to students that are going to higher institutions learning.6.      To reduces the number of students that are going to higher institutions ill-prepared especially in the subjects like English language and mathematics.
